LOORs November @ Primm: Robert raced his heart out this weekend and the car ran great other than minor issues that plagued him. Saturday Robert and Austin were in first and second again until Austin had radiator issues. Unfortunately when he pulled off the track he crossed right in front of Robert. Robert could not avoid the collision and broke a front axle. He lost 4 wheel drive after that and could not catch 1st place, but placed 2nd. Sunday's race went well and Robert placed 2nd. With Chad's 1st place win on Saturday he clinched the championship for the season, Robert is ranked 2nd in the nation for short course racing.
LOORS October @ Speedworld: This was two days of amazing racing. The top five guys battled it out right to the checkered flag both days. I would venture to say this was the best weekend of UTV racing all season! Robert pulled out a 1st place win on Saturday. Sunday Robert and Austin were battling again for 1st and in the 7th lap Robert lost his clutch belt. OOhhh the disappointment! Robert will now be to far below in points to win the LOORs championship this season unless 1st place breaks at both race in Primm, Nv next month.
Whiplash Snowflake 250: The Snowflake 250 is one of the few desert races Robert does every year. This year the race was 5 flaps at 25 miles a lap. Robert had the best overall time for all of the UTV classes and he placed first in his class. It was a crazy race, we were not sure if we were going to race with the rain coming down so hard. Half of the track was a sloppy mud and the other half of the track never saw a drop of rain. It was great.
LOORS July @ Lake Elsinore: Robert placed 2nd on Saturday and broke in the 2nd lap on Sunday.
LOORS June @ Lake Elsinore: The weather was miserably hot, but the racing was great. Robert and his teammate Austin Kimbrell were unbeatable this weekend. Robert placed 2nd behind Austin on Saturday's race. And Sunday was just as great until Robert lost his diff. The track was very muddy and he had a difficult time trying to control the car at those speeds in 2 wheel drive, but he did not give up. He dropped back to 9th by the middle of the race, as the track started to dry out he made his move. What a sight to see, he went from 9th to 4th in a matter 1 and half laps. He placed 3rd on Sunday.
M4SX June: Robert broke.
M4SX May: It was a rush to attempt the repairs to Robert's car in less than a week to make the drive to California for this race. But they managed it and Robert ended up placing 4th.
LOORs May @ Speedworld: This was a great race weekend! Robert qualified for the #2 spot on for the Saturdays race. It was a great race with newcomer Tyler Winbury, Robert placed 2nd. Robert qualified first for Sundays race, unfortunately he was plagued with mechanical issues on the 5th lap. Lucas Oil is following the same format as COOR and inverting the top qualifying drivers in the field. They pick how many drivers they will swap the day of the race. For example, Robert qualified 1st for Sundays race; instead of starting on the poll position he was moved to back three rows. So, the person that qualified for the the 6th starting position was placed on the poll. It makes the good drivers drive harder and the crowd in turn has a better show.
M4SX April 11: Robert placed 2nd in the main race.
Robert skipped all of the March races due to the birth of our son, Ryder.
M4SX February 21: Qualifying run-2nd place. 1st Heat race-2nd place. Main-unfortunately he broke.
Soboba GP January: Well we went to the Soboba GP again this year. Robert was able to debut his Tyrex for this race. He did fantastic as always but of course this being a new car he has a few kinks to work out. I should start off by telling you about the weather. It was and had been raining and so you can imagine it was a muddy mess. With it being February it was also very cold--I never left the toy hauler I watched the race from the bedroom window. Robert got the hole shot for the UTV's. They had unfortunately allowed several Honda Pilots to race with the UTV's and had allowed them to start before the UTV's. This is an hour and a half desert race and part of the course goes through a small canyon with a steep hill. The Honda Pilots could not make it up the muddy steep hill, thus blocking the course. Well I should say blocking the course for everyone but Robert. He spotted a way he thought he could go around them and made it (his teammate, Dan, did not he rolled making an even bigger traffic jam). Robert ran two laps with everyone else incredibly behind so they decided to restart the race. Robert again got the hole shot with the restart and lead the race up to the end--this is the disappointing part. His battery was not completed charged and with the on board computer, radio, etc. his battery could not keep up and the motor just died. After all that what a way to end the race, but he sure did great up to the very end!!
Monster Jam: The Monster Jam was fun as usual. Robert is still racing his '08 Yamaha Rhino since the Kawasaki Tyrex is not finished. This year was unfortunately somewhat staged for the crowd, although no one seemed to want to take direction. Robert ended up getting taken out in the main event. They had a few to many UTV's in such a small area.
